Gold Coast Decking started with a simple idea: build decks that are honest about the subtropical climate they have to live in. Hot humid summers, heavy downpours, strong UV and salt air near the beaches and canals are hard on any outdoor structure, so we design and build with that reality front of mind. Over more than twelve years we have laid timber and composite decks for pools, balconies, sloping hinterland blocks and canal-front homes right across the coast. We built our reputation on straight advice, tidy workmanship and finishing what we start. Customers come to us because we tell them how timber and composite actually behave here, not what is easiest to sell. Today we bring that same approach to every deck, large or small.

Owner/Founder Profile

Steve Smith leads Gold Coast Decking and has spent more than twelve years designing and building timber and composite decks. He has worked on everything from ground-level entertainers to elevated waterfront decks, so he knows how boards, fixings and substructures perform under real coastal conditions. Steve is on the tools and on site, which means the person quoting your deck is the same person overseeing the build. He is straight with customers about materials, upkeep and cost, because he would rather set the right expectation than oversell.

Gold Coast Decking is fully insured and carries $20 million in public liability cover. Every deck is framed to AS1684, the residential timber framing standard, and built to comply with the National Construction Code and the Queensland Development Code. Where a deck needs building approval, we build to comply and can advise on or help arrange it, with the certifier or council issuing the approval.
